Perforated Sheet Metal Cassettes
Challenge
Sheet metal cassettes with varying widths and depths of perforations were to be fastened to the concrete substrate with as little “ brackets ” as possible, while ensuring that the wind barrier installed between the substructure and the cladding remained intact. The load-bearing capacity of the sheet metal cassettes was unknown, and thus the structurally feasible spans were also unknown.
Solution
By means of a wind load test with the original cladding on the Ecolite test wall, the possible load-bearing capacity could be tested, as well as the suspension and its strength. The required nail seal between the omega profile and the wind paper could also be checked.
Ecolite Systems in Use
Aluminum V- and HV-brackets
Vertically mounted angle profile, 45 x 75 x 2.3 mm
a new horizontally oriented Omega profile (black-coated)
Newly developed mounting bolt and plastic clip for the KA system
