The Challenge
The three apartment buildings and the commercial building on the Hochbord site are to be clad with ALUCOBOND. The façade is interrupted by parapet elements that separate the storeys and are positioned slightly in front of the main façade, creating a dynamic depth effect. In addition, staggered windows create a lively façade design. Both the window frames and the balustrades of the residential buildings are an integral part of the façade cladding. These aluminum elements not only contribute to the harmonious appearance, but also ensure the required load-bearing capacity.
The Ecolite Solution
In order to minimize material consumption and installation effort for the substructure, the load-bearing profiles of the various ALUCOBOND elements were taken from thermal bridge-free brackets as well as directly from the window frames. Despite their offset, the parapet elements do not have their own substructure, but are "flying" connected to the main façade substructure. The profiles of the window frames were manufactured to fit precisely. The railings with the twisted stakes were processed and pre-assembled before painting. The various picket railings were then assembled with the window frame profiles in a covered area directly on the construction site.
Ecolite Products
These Ecolite products were used:
The primary substructure of the ALUCOBOND cladding consists of standard Thermo brackets, while the secondary substructure was designed using the OM system. Project-specific profiles were pressed for the window frames and balustrades, some of which were made from softer aluminum alloys. These were precisely matched to each other, both for the pre-assembly of the railings and for the ready-to-install frame.
