The Challenge
The new bus station is to be fitted with reflective ceiling panels. It is important that individual panels can be unhooked or removed for maintenance.
It was clear that the panels had to be designed as cassettes in order to achieve an absolutely flat surface. Likewise, markings from stiffeners glued to the back must be prevented at all costs so as not to disturb the mirror image.
The Ecolite Solution
ECOLITE's KA system, which is easy to install and has been tried and tested many times, allows cassettes to be hung in and out and can meet high aesthetic demands thanks to invisible fixings. Furthermore, the integration of rear stiffening profiles can be realised without any problems. With a suitable choice of material, temperature-related markings on the stiffening profiles can be kept to a minimum. Ceiling cladding with a constantly acting dead weight is particularly delicate here with a reflective surface.
In addition to bonding with liquid adhesives, the double-sided adhesive tape from TESA was also tested and found to be very suitable for this application. For this purpose, special tests were carried out in advance with several weeks of exposure.
Ecolite Products
These Ecolite products were used:
Cassette system KA with the internal bolts as well as stiffening profiles glued into the back of the cassettes. Support profile KA of the construction depth 50 mm, cut to length and prefabricated with fixing holes.
