Natural stone and ALUCOBOND® facade combination in the new Metrock GmbH building
High-quality facades with our service expertise
The new residential and commercial building constructed by Metrock GmbH in 4813 Uerkheim features an architecturally sophisticated façade made of natural stone and ALUCOBOND® that is a real eye-catcher. We were able to contribute both the natural stone and composite panels as well as comprehensive services in the areas of consulting, sampling, and technical support. The project is a prime example of how modern facade solutions made of natural stone and composite materials can be implemented with technical precision and in a spirit of partnership.

Technical consulting and planning for the natural stone facade
As part of the joint facade planning with Fassaden Werkstatt GmbH, we provided technical support for the project from the outset. Raphael Meyer, managing director of Fassaden Werkstatt GmbH, describes the initial situation as follows:
"The goal was to create exactly the natural stone façade that the client wanted. Since I had no experience with natural stone façades at the time, it was clear to me that I needed support, and I found it at Allega."
The substructure, load transfer, and structural details are particularly crucial for natural stone facades. Allega played a valuable role in this phase of the project:
"The aim was to identify potential stumbling blocks and circumvent them accordingly to ensure that wishes and needs could be realized. Secondly, Allega was able to verify my own cost estimate, so that the financial framework could also be communicated early on and realistically."

The choice of substructure was particularly decisive for the implementation concept:
"In the area of substructures in particular, a system was presented that was very impressive. The ProdEX system from Ecolite was then implemented and has proven itself in practice."
This meant that the natural stone façade was not only sustainable and safe in terms of design, but also in technical terms. The façade was mainly supplemented with wood, while ALUCOBOND® was used as a filler between two windows.
Efficient processes and cooperative partnership for the development of a successful building envelope
For the construction company carrying out the work, the efficient quotation and order process with us was a priority. Raphael Ammon, Head of the Facade Construction Department at Schmid Bauunternehmung AG, states:
"We always received prompt responses and communication was always open, especially regarding delivery times, which are usually the biggest challenge for us alongside coordinating the many trades working on the facade and technical challenges that need to be solved during construction. The fast construction method and interlocking trades further exacerbate this challenge. For this reason, we are heavily dependent on the support of our suppliers, whom we treat as partners."
The natural stone slabs were professionally inspected by us and their quality was ensured prior to delivery.

However, sampling in advance also played a key role in the decision on the facade:
"By creating a hand-made mock-up, on the initiative of the facade contractor, it was possible to build trust with the client and the construction management."
He explains the specific support provided for natural stone and ALUCOBOND® sampling:
"Two different sample stones were delivered, which were confirmed for further implementation after thorough testing and approval of all materials—including a hand-made mock-up with substructure."

Close cooperation continued during the implementation phase:
"We received advice on material quality and delivery dates. There was always open communication between Allega and Schmid Bauunternehmung. Problems on the construction site were discussed immediately and attempts were made to optimize them. In addition to the technical challenges, there were schedule changes that affected our work as fabricators."
Despite careful packaging, some natural stone slabs were unfortunately broken during transport. However, in close consultation with all parties involved, a technical solution was found at short notice so that construction could continue without delay.
Design options with added value
The Metrock GmbH project in Uerkheim shows that high-quality façades are more than just the sum of their materials. A natural stone facade combined with ALUCOBOND® and wood combines aesthetics, durability, and modern construction. However, the accompanying service is crucial: from cost estimates, technical advice, and sampling to substructure systems, schedule coordination, and construction site support.
As a comprehensive specialist in sophisticated rear-ventilated facades—whether with natural stone facades, ALUCOBOND®, or other materials—we support you throughout the entire value chain: from cost estimation, technical consulting, and specification support to implementation planning, coordination, and on-site support.
