The Challenge
At 2320 m above sea level, the implementation of the GFB façade at the Eigergletscher railway station is a major challenge, not only logistically but also in terms of the material loads.
The static and thermal calculations for the substructure in the high alpine area are outside the usual limits.
The Ecolite Solution
The increased wind and snow loads led to the compacted use of agraffes. For the slender column claddings, special brackets were used in the lower area which, in addition to the usual loads, can also absorb increased contact pressure from possible snow avalanches.
The substructure was designed in such a way that rapid and efficient installation remains possible in order to take full advantage of the rather narrow, seasonal installation window.
Ecolite Products
These Ecolite products were used:
Thermo V-brackets in various versions and templates, Thermo H-brackets as earthquake protection, special brackets, T-profile with increased wall thickness, single and double support profiles UB 25 incl. associated profile connectors (on the wall side) as well as double, double and single support brackets of type V2 (on the element side). In the roof edge area, Omegaprofiles were also used as a special substructure.
